IN THIS DOCUMENT 7 SECTIONS
This Cookie Policy explains how Lantern AI Inc. uses cookies and similar technologies on lantern.md and ourlanterns.com. It applies to these websites, not the separate cookies or technologies a Customer may use in its own systems.
1. How visitor insights work
Lantern uses analytics and online data partners on its websites. Vercel Web Analytics measures aggregate site use without setting analytics cookies. Apollo, Google Analytics, PostHog, and RB2B are optional analytics or visitor-insight services. For U.S. visitors, optional technology loads by default unless you opt out for your browser or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. For visitors outside the United States, optional technology does not load unless the visitor selects Allow Visitor Insights.
You can change your choice at any time through Your Privacy Choices. Lantern stores that choice for up to 12 months. An opt-out or decline prevents the visitor-identification provider's script from loading on later visits from that browser during that period.
2. Technologies we use
Cookies are small text files stored in a browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, scripts, and tags.
| Category | Technology | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regional setting | lantern_visitor_region cookie |
Applies the appropriate U.S. or international privacy experience based on country-level location information supplied by our hosting provider | Up to 24 hours |
| Privacy signal | lantern_gpc cookie |
Ensures a GPC request-header signal is honored before optional visitor technology can load in the browser | Up to 24 hours |
| Privacy choice | lantern_cookie_choice_v1 in local storage |
Remembers an opt-out, an international consent choice, an affirmative re-enable choice, or whether GPC was detected | Up to 12 months |
| Aggregate analytics | Vercel Web Analytics | Measures page views, referrers, device categories, and country-level traffic without setting analytics cookies | Vercel-configured aggregate retention |
| Optional analytics | Google Analytics and PostHog scripts, cookies, and local storage | Measures page views, site journeys, demo-link clicks, contact clicks, and other conversion events | From the current session to the provider-configured retention period |
| Visitor insights | Apollo and RB2B scripts and first-party identifiers | Recognizes returning business visitors, maintains session continuity, measures attribution, and may associate visits with business or professional identity information in the United States or company information elsewhere | From the current session to the provider-configured retention period |
We do not currently use visitor-insight technology for Candidate evaluation or hiring decisions.
3. Website visitor identification
For U.S. visitors, our websites load optional analytics and visitor-identification providers unless the visitor opts out. Outside the United States, those providers load only after the visitor selects Allow Visitor Insights. The providers may use first-party cookies or local storage, IP-derived location, browser or device information, referring URLs, page-view activity, and persistent identifiers to recognize visits.
Our visitor-identification configuration limits person-level identification to U.S.-based visitors. For U.S. visitors, a provider may associate activity with business or professional identity information, including an email address. Outside the United States, Lantern enables only company-level identification. Lantern may use identified information for website analytics, sales, and business communications. We do not use it to evaluate Candidates or make hiring decisions.
Website visitor identification may be treated as a "sale," "sharing," or targeted advertising under some U.S. state privacy laws, even though Lantern does not exchange the information for money.
4. How to opt out
You can stop or decline optional analytics and visitor insights on either website in any of these ways:
- open Your Privacy Choices in the footer and select Opt Out of Visitor Insights;
- outside the United States, select Continue Without Insights when first asked; or
- enable a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser.
Separately, U.S. visitors can use the provider's database opt-out page, and visitors outside the United States can use the provider's international opt-out page. These provider-level choices are not replacements for Lantern's controls above.
When you opt out through Your Privacy Choices, Lantern removes known visitor-identification cookies accessible from that domain and prevents optional provider scripts from loading again for up to 12 months. The choice is stored separately on each domain, so you should set it on both websites. A provider-level opt-out may be needed to apply the choice across other websites using the same service.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential storage means Lantern may ask for your choice again.
5. U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on your state, you may have the right to opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling. Lantern honors GPC signals for the browser or device that sends the signal. See our Privacy Policy or email team@lantern.md to exercise other privacy rights.
We do not knowingly use cookies to sell or share personal information of people under 16.
6. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy when our website, vendors, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised version and update the date above.
