This Privacy Policy explains how Lantern AI Inc. ("Lantern," "we," "us," or "our") handles personal information through lantern.md, ourlanterns.com, and Lantern's AI Hiring Manager services (the "Services").

1. Our role in a hiring process
Lantern helps employers and recruiting teams ("Customers") calibrate hiring criteria, identify and engage potential candidates, manage communications, conduct or assist with interviews and assessments, organize hiring evidence, generate summaries and recommendations, and coordinate scheduling.
For personal information Lantern processes for a Customer's hiring workflow, the Customer generally determines why and how the information is used. Lantern generally acts as that Customer's processor or service provider. For lantern.md, sales, account administration, security, and our own business operations, Lantern generally acts on its own behalf.
If you are a Candidate, the Customer's privacy notice also applies. Contact that employer first about a hiring decision, accommodation, alternative process, or request to correct information used in its process. Lantern will assist the Customer where appropriate.

Please do not include unnecessary sensitive information in free-text responses or interview answers.
3. Sources of personal information
We may receive personal information:
- directly from Candidates, Authorized Users, and website visitors;
- from Customers, their applicant tracking systems, and their recruiting teams;

Where Lantern processes personal information for a Customer, we use it as the Customer instructs and as permitted by our agreement with that Customer.
5. AI-assisted analysis and employment decisions
Lantern can generate job-related summaries, matches, rankings, scores, and recommendations. AI-generated output may be incomplete or inaccurate. Lantern does not make hiring decisions. Customers control their criteria and must use qualified human review to make every final decision.
Customers are responsible for notices, consent, accommodations, alternative processes, impact assessments, bias audits, and other obligations that apply to their use of automated employment decision tools or similar technologies. Lantern supports Customer compliance but does not replace the Customer's legal responsibilities.
To ask about or challenge information used in a hiring process, contact the relevant employer. You may also email team@lantern.md, and we will route or assist with the request where appropriate.
6. How we disclose personal information
We may disclose personal information to:
- Customers and Authorized Users: the employer or organization that created, sponsored, or administers the relevant hiring workflow;
- Service providers and subprocessors: providers that support hosting, databases, AI and model services, communications, scheduling, assessments, customer support, security, analytics, and integrations;
- Online data and analytics partners: providers that support website measurement and visitor identification, subject to the regional choices and disclosures in Section 7;
- Professional advisers: lawyers, auditors, insurers, accountants, and corporate advisers under appropriate duties of confidentiality;
- Corporate transaction participants: parties involved in a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards; and

Our current subprocessor information is available through the Lantern Trust Center.
7. Sale, sharing, targeted advertising, and Candidate data
Lantern does not sell Candidate information and does not disclose Candidate information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
On our websites, analytics and online data partners use cookies and similar technologies to help us understand website activity, measure conversions, and recognize business visitors. These services can include Apollo, Google Analytics, PostHog, Vercel Web Analytics, and RB2B. For U.S. visitors, a visitor-identification partner may associate site activity with other personal or professional information that it or others already holds, including an email address. Outside the United States, Lantern uses only company-level visitor identification, and optional technology loads only after the visitor selects Allow Visitor Insights.
Lantern or its service providers may use visitor-insight information for website analytics, sales, and business communications. We do not use it to evaluate Candidates or make hiring decisions.
Depending on the state, this activity may be considered a "sale," "sharing," or targeted advertising even though Lantern does not exchange the information for money.
You can opt out on either website through Your Privacy Choices or by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal. Visitors outside the United States can decline the initial request, and no optional analytics or visitor-insight technology will load. The choice is stored separately on each domain. Separately, U.S. visitors can use RB2B's database opt-out page, and visitors outside the United States can use its international opt-out page. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of people under 16.
8. U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to:
- know or access the personal information we process about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete personal information;
- receive a portable copy of information you provided;
- opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling;
- limit certain uses of sensitive personal information;
- appeal a decision on your request; and
- receive equal service and pricing without unlawful discrimination for exercising a privacy right.
Submit a request to team@lantern.md. Tell us your state, relationship to Lantern, and the right you want to exercise. We may need to verify your identity. An authorized agent may submit a request where state law allows, but we may request proof of authority and direct identity verification.
If Lantern holds the information only for a Customer, we may direct the request to that Customer and assist it. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line. You may also contact your state attorney general or other applicable regulator.
9. California notice at collection
In the preceding 12 months, Lantern may have collected the categories described in Section 2, used them for the purposes in Section 4, and disclosed them to the recipients in Section 6. The exact categories depend on your relationship with Lantern and the Customer's configuration.
Lantern does not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about a person outside the permitted business purposes described here. Lantern does not offer a financial incentive for personal information.
Website visitor identification may be considered sale or sharing under California law. Lantern honors Global Privacy Control signals for the browser or device that sends the signal. Candidate information is not sold or shared for cross-context behavioral advertising.
10. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including to provide the Services, follow Customer instructions, maintain security, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.
Retention depends on the type of information, the Customer's settings and agreement, the status of the hiring process or account, legal requirements, and the need to establish or defend claims. A Customer may export or retain information in its own systems under its own policy. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it, subject to backup cycles and legal holds.
Cookie and visitor-insight retention is described in our Cookie Policy.
11. Security
Lantern uses administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. These include access controls, encryption in transit and at rest where appropriate, logging and monitoring, secure development practices, incident response, and vendor risk management.
No system is perfectly secure. Please use a strong, unique password and tell us promptly at team@lantern.md if you believe your account or information has been compromised.
12. De-identified information and service improvement
We may use aggregated or de-identified information to evaluate, secure, and improve the Services. We maintain technical and organizational measures designed to prevent that information from being associated with a person and will not attempt to re-identify it except to test those measures as permitted by law.
Lantern does not use identifiable Customer or Candidate information to train shared or general-purpose models. Service analytics and improvement use aggregated or de-identified information as described above.
13. Children
The Services are designed for business users and working-age job candidates, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 through lantern.md. If you believe a child's information was provided in error, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.
14. Processing outside your state or country
Lantern is based in the United States, and personal information may be processed in the United States and other locations where Lantern, Customers, or service providers operate. Those locations may have different privacy laws.
If law requires a transfer mechanism or additional rights for a person outside the United States, Lantern and the relevant Customer will apply the required safeguards. Contact us for more information relevant to your location.
15. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as our practices, Services, or legal obligations change. We will post the new version and change the date above. We will provide additional notice of material changes where required by law.
